Valentine's Day Decor

Hope no one bored with my wall trees yet.  Inspired by The T&Co colour, here is our wall decor for Valentine's Day.  I didn't count how many butterflies there, but it took 2 days to cut and stick them there.
And of course, more decor for adding the details! We love Cupid's arrow and there are a couple of awesome tutorial around the web. From the vintage inspired arrow to cute arrows with chevrons(!!!) feathers.

Mine are made of coloured paper for the feathers and plastic straw. A very budget friendly project.  I love how the colour bring softness to the room. Now, I think it's time to repurpose some old furniture I saw in Mr Chai's family storage by painting them some pastel colour.      cup

CNY Decor and The Strategy to Win People's Heart Through Food

And there goes New Year..

So, here is the same decor but different bunting. Do not have any resources to make much alteration.

I'm not sure if I'm ready to host a CNY gathering at our house this year (never ready!). Thinking about messing up food for bunch of vegetarian and vegan people is terrifying.  Do you think should be okey if I goes with just gado-gado? That a little bit plain isn't it? Hmmm..
Mr Chai said my version of vegetarian Bakso or siomay should be alright. Or even my Red sauce Spaghetti doesn't sound bad. And I think spring roll is a must!

What about dessert? Is fruit popsicle okey? Oh, the Horror!!    cup

Christmas (should) come early!

To be honest the loneliest time in year for me since living in LLG is Christmas.  Maybe because I'm away from my family in Jakarta and I can't find any Christmas decoration in this town.  One of the hotel here, City Hotel, might have some decoration on their front window.  I don't expect other hotel would have it.  And maybe the newest "Mall" JM would have some.. I haven't set foot there since months ago.

Anyway, to keep the spirit high I made my own tradition by decorating our house. For this year I would go with Black and White Christmas. Not much different with last year, paper is still being used as main material.

So this is our door wreaths.  Looks great, ya? Thanks to Pinterest, you can find tons of paper snowflakes pattern there.  I'm happy with the result even if the scissor hurt my fingers (3 hours cutting folded paper could be irritating).  Sorry couldn't take better photo, lighting was not bright enough. The snowflakes makes pretty texture actually.  cup

Work in Progress

Currently listening Cassie Davis, painting like a mad person while Draco looking lost with no clue...
I'm so happy I could paint something at last. Did half bottom already and doing the top part.

The down:  This paint is so shitty! Just remember next time not to use this paint. I paint like 4-5 times to get the perfect tone. Usually if I paint with Dulux it only take me 2-3 coats.

Anyhooo.. me enjoying my moment -- so Rebecca Black! cup

Birdcage Lamp

Finally, after a small spray paint and Dad helping me with the cable, here it is... my birdcage lamp. I use 15w light bulb, but because of small twigs the light come out quite subtle. Good for my eyes generally but not bright enough for working.

Here is photo of the shop owner helped me to take out the bottom part after a small fix here and there. I need to went back twice to birdcage shop because they close in first week of Ramadan. It cost me around $4 due to my crappy bargain skill. This birdcage should only cost around $2.5 so my Dad and neighbor said.  cup

My chicken coops

I've been between paint peeler, plamur, sealer, paint and timber for the past one week. At the beginning of my moving back to Jakarta, I was planning to build a small unit above my parent's garage, but long story short I finally reside back in my first early childhood room - since I didn't have heart to claim my attic room and kick my younger brother out from there.

It took quite a while to make changes around in this house. Especially because my mom doesn't like "changes" - I think she just hates the process when all the messy things happen. So that time finally came, when she was happy after we successfully renovated her bedroom to be a small 'apartment'-like room and was distracted kinda busy with the tender. I brought in some paints, scrappers and with some help with my brother and cousin....

WALLAAAH!!

I now have my very own two storeys chicken coops! Complete with a couple of winter trees on the corner. I don't know where to buy vinyl wall sticker, so.. paint it is

You might ask how I could climb up to the bed (1500 high from floor). I use the small ladder for now, but planning to go out hunting for some crappy timber boxes this afternoon. At least this routine - going up and down ala tots - surely make my heart younger.

I've been seeing some birdcage lighting everywhere in the net. One of them is in Whampoa Club in Beijing. Here is the pictures.

Just one would be enough for my room and I will paint it white. This will be in my to do list along with: paint the door frame, change door colour, paint bamboo tree mural in mom's bedroom. She get jealous with my winter tree. cup

Mom's mirror

After two days painting the walls, mom's bedroom finally done, but we still need to buy some accessories for bathroom such as shower curtain and towel rack. And of course she is planing to make the bedsheets herself tho I don't know when she will have the time to do that with all the stuff going on at her workshop right now. So I wont post the before-after photos yet.

Well, at least one corner is done. Here are some piccies of the new basin. I bought a gold-iesh classic style photo frame last time and it has been hanging there for a couple of days, but mom said the golden colour somehow bring some horror feeling every time she pass it. So, I decided to paint it white just to remind me also with my (used-to-be) vintage mirror. It turn out really cool.

Plastergurl

Remember that my mom was doing renovation for her bedroom and ensuite? There was one old yucky very ugly old window - imagine: holes, ants, wood termites, spider webs - need to be removed. That was the same window that my red panel attached to. So.. the window was gone, my red panel has been moved to Mom's studio. Now, I end up with a naked wall at the corner of my room.

Anyway, I decided to do my own DIY - plastering the wall, since the Handymen were busy doing my mom's room and I couldn't wait anymore. I use white cement so I don't need to put base paint later on.

I'm planing to tidy up the wall but leave brick texture exposed and use the old door frame from my mom bathroom to be some kind of book shelve there or something, also re-painting the other walls would be a great project. cup

Violet Invitation

Some drafts for my cuz' wedding invitation. She wants to have a simple affordable DIY invitations which wont give big problem for me. ME? yes.. because I'm the one who's going to make them. Thank God, there will only be 200.

Her colour palette is violet with light pink, I hope these are not too cheesy. They all are folded card, flat printed on white matte photo paper with some material combination.

I'm still waiting feedback from her, hope she will sign one of them off. I love shopping Stationary... *if I only knew where to go in Jakarta. cup

My twitter-bird

Ha ha.. my first attempt making a handmade stuffed toy. Mom was doing minor clean up on her workshop and has a lot of over-left fabrics. I picked some nice pattern fabrics and made a twitter bird.
Ok this is prototype, I think it's not so bad at all. Sewing machine will be handy, will post them here next time. cup
