Engaged

I'm officially engaged today!!
Although we've been arranging the wedding since a year ago but finally I'm engaged for real with Mr Chai, in Chinese custom. Lots of red today, Mr Chai's Family came to my house this morning to hand out the betrothal gifts and the dowry. I will probably explained about the custom - that I know from my experience after preparing this betrothal day- in separate post.
For now, here are some photos from today. *note my mom's happy face....

Year of the Rabbit
This would be my first Chinese New Year with the family after years living far away and hopefully my last time to receive the red envelope before the wedding this year. Although my family from both my parents side don't have very thick chinese culture, but I could see that this year's celebration was more lively than before. This probably because we have the third generation popping out in the last 2 years; they look like some pop rock candies and cute jelly beans!
The celebration was started really early in the morning with some children from the neighborhood came and yelled out my parent's name in front of our house, then my dad will came out and gave everyone red envelope.
Then the rest of the day was full with family time, met my mom's family in the day and my dad's in the evening. Lot's of laugh, love and food; and last but not least... the gambling session - one of the essence of real Bangka people..

NY eve
This post is really long overdue.
As usual my family went to Puncak to spent the NYE together. Stayed there for two days by doing nothing except BBQ-ing, sleeping and catching up; same things every year, the different was this year one of our aunty couldn't join us because she was in the hospital since xmas, but she is getting better now.
Hence there was no fireworks and crazy celebration. We all celebrated NY quietly and continuously praying for my aunty's health.
I know it's way too late, but
HAPPY YEAR! May this new year bring lots of happiness and love...
Here are some photos from NYE; some of them taken by my cousin.. check his other shoots HERE.

Bird-day
Bwaaaaaa... another birthday. Had dinner with family and friend at a small steak house, very very cheap one, while watching soccer match between Indonesia and Laos in AFF Cup. Surprisingly they did very well, 6-0 score! Even better than the last match against Malaysia with score 5-1 for Indonesia.
It's a fantastic achievement, knowing that we never won anything for the past-forever. Oh and haven't heard anything about crazy supporter either recently. Wow... are they really celebrating my birthday until that level? Me feel honoured..

Another Gathering
Oh.. How time flies so fast! I met my baby cousins and nephews-nieces last night in (again) one of my mom's family wedding. Two of them flew from BBL to Jakarta last Friday with their mom.
Those tiny sprouts now grew so tall like bamboo grass! Of course I occasionally meet with most of them, but when they started to put some make up on, curl their hair and stand on high heels... you just feel awe.
Although (still) there are one or two that you always keep as baby. For me this goes to my twin niece - because we share the same name. No matter how big or old she is.. I just cant stop pinching her cheek and hug her.
These are just some photos from last night and them 5 years ago. See any difference? There is one girl MIA, but that's because she was at her station giving away the favors - she is the pretty one.

Family Gathering
We had the first (junior) family gathering last night!! Although there were only from three families - out of 8 from my dad's side - I think it went well. Japanese food, Pizzas and lots of talking. We promised to have another gathering next month - cross my finger, traffic in Jakarta is just impossible.

Mom's best angle
If you notice from previous posts she always turns her face somewhere else whenever I click the camera. I think she realizes her best angle is not to 'model-pose' but more kinda like 'paparazzi-pose' - I pretend to be busy but phulease take my pictures - style.
Anyway, I love her although lately she's been trying to adopt my style. From Cardigan, Loose T-shirt, Cropped pants, Belts, and the famous Daster-dress, oh not to mention the light smoke eyes. Maybe next time I'll post some comparison photos.
Her friends told me mom started to dress up again since I stay in Jakarta. It's fun seeing somehow she cares about her look, it's like playing dress-up-Mama-Barbie.

Duple Blast
My Family love coming to this small Bangka cuisine restaurant to celebrate (almost about) everything, from we-don't-have-food-tonight-but-we-don't-want-to-eat-fried-rice, birthday, the new pregnancy and like today: We were celebrating two wedding anniversaries on late September; my parents' and my Uncle's.
Everyone had lots of fun, catching up and enjoying their hometown cuisine. So if you happen to be around KaliDeres particularly in Citra Garden 2, please give a visit to this tiny restaurant right in front of PizzaHut and have your self a serve of Lempah Kuning.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad
And then he gave a 'meaningful' look to my mom. She looked back at him having question marks all over her face.
He continued, today is our anniversary.
Awww... that's cute, right? but how come they just spent this special day by watching TV waiting for Brandon and Hudson in Indonesian Got Talent (as if)??
*at least they have identical sleeping position and btw... nice legs mom!

Tiptoeing at Toko Tiga
It was a perfect weather in Jakarta - this means cloudy sky with temperature not more than 30C degree, and there wasn't a lot traffic yet since people are still in holiday mood.
Here are some pictures from today just before I run out of battery. Mom need some material and supply for the coming project, and I was just her private chauffeur.

Cousin's wedding
This is long overdue. I just got a chance to upload photos from my camera and here are some photos from my cousin's wedding last month.
During small drama, finally my lovely cousin tied the knot in a nice church. There were lots of tears in the guest seats while she read her vow. A nice simple intimate dinner reception followed after that.

Baby Brother Bday Bash
My Baby Brother turned 28 this month, as usual we had dinner together like any other normal good family will do, but this one would be in a hawker stall and minus sweet prayer. Food was great -I had extra portion of fried flat rice noodle with gravy, me hungry!
Cake was cute - we had about 3 minutes looking and poked at it before he actually blew the candle and cut it. It was too cute. You should see the shoes and the rucksack..
Hhhhhh.. I remember when I was 28, life could be so unpredictable ... ok actually dont know why I said that, probably I just love the sound when you pronounce uhn-pri-dik-tuh-buhl.
Anyway, happy b-day again Welee...
