Joyeux Noel!!

OOhhh.. best lunch ever! Not just because everything was seafood, but lots of things! Xmas lunch this year hosted by Marie and Neil as the BBQ-chef. Start from Abalone soup, Garlic Prawns, Pickled Octopus, Stuffed Squid, BBQ Snapper, Yummy Oysters and Marie's delicious Mussles.

Some peoples are not in this photos but they surely came home with full stomach~~

We even had Tiger Moment! John T-16 months tot- taught us how to swing.

And of course Gift time!! from Rua, Ahmed and Yafa. (I didn't even gave them presents - shame on me!) All the things that I love - except the "very personal" one.. cant even mentioned it here, because it is too personal. Who's hair was that???!!! eeuuwwwwww
But Thank You So Much!!! I feel like I received xmas presents from the whole Adelaide!
Guess what! So coincidence that I have Camilla Morton's first book! Thanks for giving me her second book, I will read it through for year 2010.
Like people say... What has been started can not be stopped. I should go hunting her third book!
Now, I'm officially one of those Legally Blondes chick.. double Yay!! - err.. with dark hair who hates pink, totally blind about fashion brands and pretend that Victoria Beckham was her twin sister!

Carols by Candlelights

Last week was my second time attending Carols by Candlelights in Adelaide. Oh.. those memories, me just graduated and worked in as (replacement) waiter in Wild Thai while looking for a real job. This year is different..

Anyway.. weather was perfect (20-ies something) and as guessed before it was hardly to get any sit around the stage except if already camped there 3 hours before under unfriendly heat! I decided to sit across the river. I think looking at the crowd and listen to the carols more than enough to brought up my xmas spirit back after the pageant!

It felt like real Xmas (minus the snow)..

Bday-v2.0

As usual your bday gift(s) always unique, original and rather silly. It's like a romantic comedy with a dark humor twist at the end!!
Finally this year (sadly the last one) I complete my bedroom series artwork. Ahmed gave me one of his painting - suppose to show his interpretation of a Khapoosh which then he corrected as 'any male figure'

FYI (from L-R) the second artwork was bday card from RuAhm for my last bday, the 3rd artwork was valentine card from Ruarua, and 4th was bday gift from Yang Yan for my bday 2 years ago.

Here is the card from RuAhm+Yafa this year.. with Ahmed's sketch of me doing tribal ritual killing a Khapoosh and Yafa's painting on the background (I assume it was some sunny clouds over the killing ritual!)

Thanks also for the baggy jeans tote bag, house&garden book and Stamfording tonight. I had fun and it's like doing meditation but with 2 evil witches instead of my inner self!
Now what should I do next year without your crazy card and painting?

Bday dinner

Small but essential!! That's the words I would say about my Bday dinner this year. Only with my housemates and some closest friends.
Definitely crazy about the Bohemian style interior and ladies room of Boho bar. Fun and Fascinating! - even the juggler somehow hypnotized us to fall asleep looking at his magick balls
I think I will have 1 last high tea next year here..

Thanks guys for coming, although some of you were/are not feeling well. I'll make sure WengWeng settles in at his new home in Jakarta.

Hotaru

No need special reason to have a big dinner. We went to a Jap restaurant, Hotaru, tonight and ended up with a big dinner suit for 8 person.
The food was fantastic, but the reason why this dinner will be remembered is a non-stop annoying crowd sat next to our table. I cant imagine how you able to shout for 3 hours without loosing your voice tomorrow morning.

no picture of those crazy crowd. my mobile is too good for them.

RAA member (as IF)

What a better way to celebrate the most power solar eclipse of this year than to watch Harry Potter - The half blood prince and seeing Dumbledore died. That was like crying for the second time. That brought back my memory when I spent the whole Saturday 16/07/2005 reading every page on my bed at Room number 1, Elm Tree Lodge. Still couldn't believe that Dumbledore was dead and have a small hope that all was just a scam and he would come back in the last book (not only as a talking photo).

Anyway.. Tonight was a great night. Marie just happened to booked in advance 4 tickets to Harry Potter movie as RAA member since last month. Free Magnum ice cream, free drink, free popcorn, goodie bag and Rua even have FREE TENNIS RACKET - which she said will try to sell it in Ebay. oh and of course.. free photo shoot with "Harry Potter".

Baby pub time

What we learnt:
- come around 5PM and leave at 6.30PM, perfect time for the baby in a pub before they pump up the volume.

Elinor's Dinner

We went to Uyghur to have last dinner with Elinor before her long trip to China. Too much lamb and impressive noodle!!
Good luck Elinor!! Have fun in China.

Would you like a cup of tea?

Just an affirmation to our feminine side, I hosted a tea party at our house which were attended only by close friends. Lots of sugar, sweet and girly girl converstation.
We definitely loves Sentimentali -T and Lapacho Vanilla from the T bar.

Last week Sue and I found a set of cute white cups with nice baby pink colour line and fine flower print only for $5 at Kings Park Salvos and we used them today. They really match with the pink colour from the fruit melange tea.

And for the tea cups-hunting-wise, this is not over yet. I will come back to that store one day to buy that pretty pink tea cup (I'm not telling you which store).

Rua's Birthday

Happy Birthday Rua!!
It was a really long night last Friday. We were celebrating Rua's bday with a mini pub crawl. Started with big dinner and a shot of French pussy at Havelock hotel ; the red laprechaun troop marched from Hutt St to East End. more beers at Exeter, Free style dancing at The Elephant, Bull ride at Woolshed and wild karaoke at Sue's entertainment.

Gourmet Weekend - Xpress unplanned instant gateaway

Clare Valley Gourmet weekend 2009 trip turned out to be a great trip. We were so afraid this Saturday would be cloudy with some shower but luckily we had perfect autumn weather.
Who would have thought we would stayed overnight at Elinor's nana house this weekend. A day trip suddenly became a quick gate away "holiday".

A couple of sips at Penna Lanes Wines, staring at the milky way, get lost in Mintaro's maze garden, wearing perfect noses and eating yummy chocolate cake at Paullet Wines.

What we learnt:
McClarren Vale and Clare Valley are completely 2 different places.
There is no such thing as Jumping Bear
Melodious is a word
Not only Red bull can give you wing
Portugasm is an age-old Portuguese tradition that involves reaching an elevated state of enjoyment and satisfaction. Ie. Eat Nando's then u'll get it.
Yes, you can squised 4 girls at the back seat.

Ahmed: How much is it for the camel?
Camel guy 1: It's $10 ride. I can take you to Victor Harbour too.
Ahmed: No.. I want to buy a camel
Camel guy 1: ...... Oh you want to buy the camel?! It's 35K for the smaller one and 40K for the bigger one...............
Ahmed: ............
Camel guy 2: and it's in US dollar

What we learnt

Marrie's b-day

Yay.. who said no one should celebrate his b-day early?! 4 days earlier than her original b-day, Marie took us all to Zapata's tonight. Great place, nice service!

Here are some photos from the dinner. I'm pretty sure she'll upload more herself in her FB profile.

Looking great Marie!!! Fab dashing smile and dress...

2 Cakes never enough

Sate, gamelan, dangdut + wine affair + gallery + starry city

Although it is not as big as last year, but Indofest 2009 to me this year was awesome. You could almost smell the Sate flavor 200m away from the entrance, somewhat making this as typical Indofest smell.

As predicted, there were long queues in front some of the food stalls. We bought bakso $8.50 came in kids portion :P and 10 chicken sate $1.50/ea so tasty you can feel the meat so soft melted in your mouth (iron chef style). Taste so different with the original sate Pak Jangkung Madura, operating at Cendrawasih 2.

I think the highlight was when the contemporary traditional band - gamelan campur rock band performed plus not to forget the infamous colourful sexy bodbod dandut singer Immelfi. seriously TOPBGT!! you only can see this excitement at traditional kampoeng wedding with orkes dangdut there.

We then headed to Food and Wine Affair at North Adelaide where Sue was checking out a guy motorbike. A little bit Samosa, camels and country music before we personally accidentally invited by Russell Starke the owner of Greenhill Gallery. Small gallery with beautiful paintings and friendly host.

Since we have one extra hour start this month, freezing yourself death while trying to locate Adelaide Airport at the Kensington Rd Lookout seems a great way to spent the night. Maybe next time we should bring thicker coat or blanket and some wedang jahe.

what we learnt:
Come to festival 1 hour before the closing time so you can get free entry.
Listerine always work (tips from the party girl)
Wear expensive specs, you will see your life in different perspective. (tips from the artist)
Practice makes perfect. Clapclap to flower girl who master parallel parking at her second try.

Kites kites kites...

It's been a great week especially the weekend, although we missed Indian Festival this year because of the heat and shopping somehow suddenly was at our top list that day. *Do I really need a waistcoat and a big hooded short dress after all the pricey specs?

Spending a short hours in Sunday noon between old buildings at Port Adelaide and second hand stuff in the Fisherman's wharf market always works for me. At least it took some of those guilty feeling I had yesterday after the shopping. Although I really want to take those pairs of old antique salem painted Hydrangea portable wall hook. $15 for 2 should be great.. Naa, too bad vena.. maybe next time.

As the original plan, we then heading to Semaphore for the Kite festival. I saw the sky became a big giant aquarium with all those flying sharks, dolphins, frogs, octopus, red desert dragon reptile (whatever) and mermaid who looks more like a guy than a pretty girl (rua said).
I totally had a great time this week!

Energizer bunny is back..

I remember about a year ago when Energizer bunny was in real flesh and blood. She jumped around to any kind of songs and sometime did stupid silly dance move while walking on the footpath. This always happened after COB till midnight.
But then she was kinda like hibernating (or should I say re-charging?) and have a little AAAA Energizer bunny.. Both energizer bunnies always spend time every second but Energizer bunny Sr was still in recharging mode for 4 months now..

Today, I am happy to say that the REAL Energizer bunny has come back!!! Surely not because of the coffee..
